Mark Friedman serves as Board Chair for SupplyBank.org. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Eden Health District, which operates Eden Hospital, a community hospital serving residents of Castro Valley, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward, and other communities. 

Mark has 20 years of experience directing nonprofit children’s, arts, and advocacy organizations. He previously served as CEO of the Thomas J. Long Foundation, where he led a major grants program, which provided critical support to East Bay community organizations working in health care, education, senior, disability, and safety net services. He also served as the CEO of First 5 Alameda County for more than 15 years.

Mark is the co-founder of Community Bank of the Bay, the first community development bank in California. He was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the California State Advisory Council on Early Learning and Care, which he chaired for three years. He served two terms as President of the California Children and Families Association and as Co-Chair of Raising California Together. Mark currently serves on the boards of the East Bay Community Foundation, Oakland Promise, Funding the Next Generation, Ensuring Opportunity, and the Budget Justice Coalition.

He was recently appointed as an Alameda Health System Trustee by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. He previously spent more than 11 years as an elected member of the El Cerrito City Council, including three terms as Mayor. He lives in El Cerrito, California with his wife, a journalist.
