Melissa Schoonmaker serves as Board Vice Chair for SupplyBank.org. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and serves as Project Director for the Child Welfare and Attendance Unit at the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). 

Melissa has over 25 years of child welfare and attendance (CWA) experience with K-12 school districts. She has extensive knowledge of pupil services, program management, community partnerships, and community outreach efforts. Her expansive professional experience has enabled her to support and collaborate with numerous district personnel, community organizations, and other stakeholders to make a positive impact on Los Angeles County’s students and their families’ educational experience.

Melissa previously served as the LACOE Homeless Liaison, working closely with the 80 school districts across Los Angeles County and more than 320 public charter schools, to meet the educational needs of more than 70,000 youth identified as experiencing homelessness.

Melissa previously worked at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for 16 years–as a Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA) Counselor, School Attendance Review Board Chair, and as a PSA Coordinator overseeing the Homeless Education, Pregnant Minors, Permits and Student Transfers, Foreign Student Admissions, and School Court Liaison Programs.
