Largest Nonprofit Campus in the Nation, the Oakport Project, Secures Ground Lease Agreement for Oakland Waterfront
March 13, 2024
Oakport developer SupplyBank.org is excited to announce that we have signed a historic 65-year ground lease agreement, marking a significant milestone in the development of the Oakport Project, the largest nonprofit campus in the nation. Oakport will include 160,000 square feet of office space and 60,000 square feet of warehouse space on 16 acres. The project will provide local nonprofits with affordable 60+ year leases.
The project was approved by the City of Oakland Planning Commission last year.
Growing from humble beginnings into a nonprofit real estate developer, SupplyBank.org credits the gift of affordable and modern office space from a founding funder as a key contributor to the organization’s success and to its motivation to make the vision of Oakport’s 60+ year lease offerings a reality for the nonprofit community.
SupplyBank.org believes that the Oakport campus will be a unique community of the most passionate, equitable, and socially minded organizations and people serving our community and working to create social change.
The Bay Area is a one-of-a-kind place, and the cornerstone of our culture and creativity are the people and nonprofits that work here, live here, and serve the community. This campus will support all of them with superb amenities for the workforce and the public to enjoy for generations to come.
SupplyBank.org is currently working on plans for offsite improvements to enhance the local park and recreation experiences for the public and for the nonprofit workers who will call Oakport home.
The project will also deliver critical new facilities for EBMUD, including warehouse space, office space, an emergency response operations center, job training facilities, and other improvements to help the agency achieve its water infrastructure goals.
The signing of the ground lease paves the way for the next phase of the project’s development, centered on community building with tenants, financing, and a capital grant campaign. SupplyBank.org will also be one of three tentative anchor tenants at Oakport.
SupplyBank.org’s Warehouse, Distribution, and Job Training Center will provide critical capacity, enabling a dramatic increase in the storage and distribution of basic needs and emergency response supplies throughout the Bay Area and across the state to Californians who need support.
